Electric shaver

That night Dr. John could not sleep for a long time in his room. He had various thoughts about his forthcoming meeting with Thomas in the morning. "What a fool, looking at me like a wolf! What does he want from me? Is he really up to something?" John thought.

Dr. tossed from side to side for a long time, his thoughts fading away as the long-awaited slumber set in. Suddenly there was a knock at the door of the room.

John shuddered, snapped out of his sweet slumber, and heard a muffled voice coming from behind the door.

"Excuse me, I'm here to see you, Mr. John. Are you still awake?" came a voice from the darkness.

From the voice coming from behind the door, the doctor realized it was Captain Thomas.

"Captain Thomas, we agreed to meet in the morning, didn't we?!" thundered John.

"Yes, but there have been unforeseen circumstances... Open up, doctor."

"Wait a minute!"

The doctor got out of bed, threw on a robe, lit a lamp, and opened the door to the visitor. Thomas stood in the doorway, holding a canvas bag from which something was dripping on the floor. In the light of the lamp the captain's eyes glowed with an ominous fire. They seemed to John like burning coals.

"Well, that's it," thought Dr. John, "that's the end of it. If I'm lucky enough to get out of this damned hotel, I'll get out of here and go somewhere quiet, out in the fields, and herd cows."

The captain stepped quickly across the threshold, grabbed John by the sleeve and pulled him close.

"No, you won't escape that easily. I'll calm you down now..." Thomas hissed ominously.

The captain took the lamp off the hook and set it on the nightstand next to Dr. John's bed.

"What, moron, are you awake?" grinned Captain Thomas. "Shall we talk?"

"Please," John replied fearfully, taking a seat on the bed.

"Were you the one who took the electric razor out of the dead George Adderiy's head and guarded the body like a mutt until Adrian arrived?"

"I admit, there has been such a case in my practice..."

"And where's the electric shaver?!"

"The electric shaver is now in Adrian's possession..."

"You're lying! Before he died, Adrian pointed at you! He didn't have an electric shaver in his skull..."

The captain abruptly untied the canvas bag and Adrian's head rolled out, staining the white sheet on the bed with blood and brains. There was a bloody hole in the top of his skull, jagged and jagged, as if carved with an axe.
